Ava Starts Preschool
The first of September Ava started preschool. We found an in-home preschool with great recommendations from lots of ladies I know (who also send their kids there) and a stellar price. Sign us up! The teacher spends the first year working on letters and their sounds, writing your name (and eventually other words) and other things like shapes, etc. The emphasis is to prepare them to learn to read their second year of preschool and even do some basic math. Technically, according to the way Ava's birthday falls she would not be allowed to enter kindergarten at the end of her two preschool years, but Elliott and I didn't want to hold off on any further education since she is just soaking up everything like a sponge these days and decided we would cross that bridge when we got to it.
She attends on T/Th from 12-2pm, which in turn gives me quality time with Lily and Piper (which has been very nice). So far they have been learning one letter per week and practicing writing their name every session. (I tried to have her write her name at home the other day and she said "no mom, I write my name at school not home!" but then did it anyway). Other thing slip in, like practicing cutting paper with scissors, and both Elliott and I love to hear all about her day, something she is sometimes more forthcoming about that than other days. I can't wait to hear more!
