Thrifting is My New Garage Saling

Even Las Vegas has winter. I know people, pull your jaws up off of the table. And the garage sale season that is oh so gloriously long-lived out here pauses briefly to yield to the cold. (Although Elliott still asks me every Friday night if I am going out garage saling in the morning.) So today I ventured to Goodwill and Deseret Industries to fulfill my bargain hunting/creative repurposing urges. I found some fun finds I just couldn't keep all to myself.

This is a quilted table runner, although you can't see the length because I folded it up to take a picture. I immediately thought of turning it into hot pads for the kitchen. Then thought the colors would be perfect for the girls' bedroom. So thoughts moved towards pillows. Then I thought about turning it into a box valance. Choices, choices.....

I found a couple of skirts that are way too small for me, but I thought would be really pretty to turn them into half aprons for me. Or full aprons for little girls.

But this fabric is just too pretty. This skirt may become a new summer dress for Ava. Choices, choices...

I found these four wall decorations. And bought them. Because I liked the phrasing and I currently have this type of color scheme in my house. I also thought that their shape would be condusive to spray paint and vinyl lettering later should I decide to switch it up.

Not pictured is a fabulous ivory chunky sweater cardigan that I wanted to turn into a homey pillow cover. Then I put it on. And it felt so lovely and looked so hideous. What's a girl to do? I still don't know if it will end up in my closet or on my couch. I also scored a couple of souffle ramekins that match the two I have already and a longer church skirt for myself, which will remain untouched.

Can't wait see what I can find next time!

Thanks for visiting. I have a son and daughter still living in Cedar so I get to visit the antique store often. I'm going to be sad when they graduate and move form there. I try to hit the DI and Savers at least once a week. Right after Christmas there was nothing, maybe later this week will be better. You found some great things. Thats a great idea with what to do with those skirts.

I say wear the sweater--you can never have too many wonderfully comfy clothes!
